The Striped Tigers

My Instrument That I have discovered

Picture
This is my instrument  is a bell it comes from the Smithsonian it was used for a hunting bell to warn people when to go hunting for food .There is a head of an animal on the bell and I think it means a sign of time to eat or which animals to go after. Also there is vines on the bell and there's a handle. It was made in the 18th century a really long time ago . It's common with my drum by having a handle so I can hold my instrument also it has designs, that both go with a culture  and it makes a noise.

This is me with my instrument it is a two sided drum and I have designed it to be apart of my culture I am cape Verde and Portuguese the color of my drum is blue, red, white, and orange. It's played with a drum stick. I made it out of two buckets and tape, pipe cleaners. At first it was hard building this two sided drum because I had some problems keeping the tape on but I fixed that by holding them together and putting duck tape around the drum twice.

My decorative elements I choose was a American flag, stars,Cape Verde symbol. The meaning of American flag is for how I speak which is English. The meaning of the stars is because on the Cape Verde flag there is ten stars. The meaning of the Cape Verde symbol is because that's my nationality. Also of cores it's a red bucket and a white bucket. That's the decorative elements I chooses for my two sided bucket drum.

The report will provide information about the design, the comparisons to older instruments about the traditions important to my creation. I couldn’t help but notice when my eyes widened as I spotted my cultural artifact. It’s unbelievable that a cultural artifact can be turned into a musical instrument. It is equally my own functioning instrument that has information that represents who I am and where I come from. The elements on the back of my cultural artifact are yellow stars, a cross, American flag the Cape Verdean symbol, and pipe cleaners. Would you believe that a plane white and red bucket can be turned into a cultural artifact? These two artifacts are similar by them both having a handle so you can hold the top of the instrument. Also they both have decorations that have a meaning to someone. They are different by being a part of someone’s culture because the bell has nothing in common with me. But my drum has a lot of meaning to me. Like how I celebrate holidays and what I believe in. My bucket drum can be used as part of my cultural experience. I could hear the Striped Tigers rocking it out at the carnival. The cultural tradition for my musical instrument that were using is the carnival like a festival and a party. It lasts about once a year in the month of June. Our tradition such as special clothing is red, white, or blue T-shirts. Also we wear black skinny jeans and converses and two slicks of black paint under our eyes.
